Today the warm up was watching CNN Student news, responding to prompts and sharing our responses with the class.

We then used Ipads to go back through yesterdays presentations and complete our notes.  Those who gave the presentations answered questions and helped other students with their notes.  Here are the links.

Today for a warm-up students drew images from the ancient civilization they are doing a project on. They were also required to label the drawing and add a caption.

Today and tomorrow we're taking a break from researching and doing mini-lesson on Egyptian pharaohs and monuments.  There will be a mini-lesson on each ancient civilization interspersed throughout the student's research.  To read about the project the students are preparing for see the September 24th blog entry.

Today our warm up was to find an interesting fact from the past few days of research, place it into one of the seven characteristics of a highly civilized culture and to explain why it fit into that characteristic of civilized culture.  

We then researched for the Ancient Cultures Project using a number of different resources (videos, non-fiction books, Apps, websites and magazines.

Today in class we watched a video about a lesser know but amazing story that happened on 9/11/2001.

When then finished a quiz on Brain Pop and introduced and stared an exercise on Hammurabi's Code.

9-9-2014

In class today we started by watching the September 8th 2014 CNN Student News with English Subtitles.  Students then wrote a response according to the prompt.  The students then shared their responses in their groups.

Then we made two "foldables" which were a timeline and a map for our Ancient Times Unit.  The actual foldables will need to be picked up in person from Mr. Pollert, but here are the directions.  Enjoy!
