Today for a warm-up students drew images from the ancient civilization they are doing a project on. They were also required to label the drawing and add a caption.
Today and tomorrow we're taking a break from researching and doing mini-lesson on Egyptian pharaohs and monuments. There will be a mini-lesson on each ancient civilization interspersed throughout the student's research. To read about the project the students are preparing for see the September 24th blog entry.

In class today we started by watching the September 8th 2014 CNN Student News with English Subtitles. Students then wrote a response according to the prompt. The students then shared their responses in their groups.
Then we made two "foldables" which were a timeline and a map for our Ancient Times Unit. The actual foldables will need to be picked up in person from Mr. Pollert, but here are the directions. Enjoy!
